Obituary

Earl E. Chance, age 87, of Lake Station, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012. He was a longtime Lake Station resident and a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an Elder, Deacon and Choir Member. Earl served as an aircraft mechanic in the US Navy during WWII. Earl was a sheet metal worker for forty years retiring from Area Sheet Metal. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #20. Earl was happiest being busy. The outdoors, fishing and singing with the choir were special pleasures. He loved maintaining the home that he built and shared with his family for over fifty years. Earl is survived by 2 sons, Steven (Kristi) Chance, Port Charlotte, FL; Scott (Anne) Chance, Bradenton, FL; 2 daughters, Laura (Bob Hurst) Chance Keller, Champaign, IL; Ruth Chance, Portage; 11 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by wife, Norma J. (Clements) Chance; parents Clifford Chance and Dolly (Yohn) Chance; and brothers Clifford Chance, Jr. and Dennis Chance. Memorials are preferred to VNA Hospice. Memorial Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 2:00-7:00pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00am with US Navy Honors at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 219-762-3013.
