Eddie Sol

Eddie Sol, age 89, a lifelong Hobart resident passed away in his home Wednesday December 29, 2021. He was born September 15, 1932, in Hobart, Indiana to the late Anthony and Rose (nee Gawvyck) Sol. Eddie was a Korean War veteran. He was a retired steelworker that worked at US Steel Gary Works.  He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and the Izaak Walton League.  Eddie enjoyed the outdoors, both hunting and fishing, and was a diehard Cubs fan.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Kellie Halkitis of Chicago, Illinois; two grandsons, Evan Halkitis and Aidan Halkitis; one sister, Jennie Kordys of DeMotte; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Frank Sol, Chester Sol, Ann Wozniak, Cecelia Klaja, Helen Bracich; and his parents.

Eddie wished that his body be cremated and his ashes scattered. There will be no attended services at this time.
