Edith L. Borst (nee Smith), age 84, of Portage and formerly of Park Rapid, MN passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021.

Edith was born on Jul 29, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MN to the late Everett and Hazel Smith.  She married the love of her life Donald Borst in June 1956 and spent 54 years together until his death in 2010.  Edith was a lifelong member of TOPS club.  She loved to bird watch, take drives through the country, and enjoyed spending time at home with her family.

Edith is survived by her children: Deborah (Rev. Joe) Miller, Linda (late Rev. Richard) Pringle, Steven (Lisa) Borst, Donna (Frank) Montro, and Diana (Dan) Heavner; brothers: Everett "Buddy" and Roy Smith; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

Edith is also preceded in death by her grandson: Josh Miller; brothers: Edgar, Carl, and Jack Smith; and sisters: Alice Spah, Ruby Armentrout, and Genevieve Jones.

Per Edith's wishes, there will be no funeral service held.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Schererville.  Cremation and arrangements entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5341 Central Ave, Portage).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lewy Body Society or to Dunes Hospice.
