Edith Louise (Wolf) Loverich, age 99 of Valparaiso, and former resident of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, May 09, 2018. Edith was born September 27, 1918 in Fostoria, Ohio, raised in Bloomville and Carey, Ohio, and one of seven children born to the late Harley and Virginia Wolf. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Arthur Loverich, her sisters, Ellen Comte, Dorothy Wolfe Marie Bush, Ruth Bardon and Emadel Cole and her brother, Nelson Wolf. She is survived by her four children, Laurel (John) Johnson of Chicago, IL, Ronald (Debi) Loverich of Valparaiso, IN, Richard (Barbara) Loverich of Monon, IN and Rebecca (John) Lancaster of Mokena, IL; 13 cherished grandchildren and 27 treasured great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be forever remembered.
Edith was an active member of St. Bridget Church, mentoring youth in the CYO, and serving as President of St. Anne's Confraternity. She served as Officer and President of the Crown Point Deanery, President of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, and was active on Bishop Andrew Grutka's Pastoral Council. Edith was Province Director of the IN Council of Catholic Women serving as a liaison between the National Council of Catholic Women in Washington, DC and five Indiana dioceses, and presided at the NCCW convention in Indianapolis in 1974. She was celebrated as "Mother of the Year" at St. Bridget parish in 1969. Edith also served as President of the Women's Club of Northwest Indiana and volunteered many years at Hobart Mercy Hospital. She loved this beautiful world and her joy was in serving her church and community.

A funeral service for Edith will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 beginning with prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN and processing to St. Bridget Church, 107 Main St, Hobart for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Benjamin Ross officiating . A private family burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden in Schererville; IN.
