Edna Mae Ripperdan, age 90, of Lake Station passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 1, 2012 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. She was born November 15, 1921 in Harco, IL to the late Herman and Ruby (Luther) Sundmacher. On January 11, 1939 in Marion, KY she married Samuel Ripperdan, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 15, 1995. Edna was a homemaker and mother that loved sharing and caring for her family.
She is survived by six children Ruby White of Tulsa, OK, Charles (Dorothy) Ripperdan of Portage, Janet Myers of Russellville, AL, Marsha (Rolland) Schenkel of Muscatine, IA, Arnold (Peggy) Ripperdan of Lake Station, and Keith (Debbie) Evans of Culleoka, TN; twelve grandchildren Terrilyn Radandt, Dennis White, Dawn Heffner, Charles Ripperdan, John Ripperdan. Paula Cook, James Cook, Nathan Myers, Kim Chase, Bridget Ripperdan, Matthew Ripperdan, and Dakota Evans; two sisters Lula Belle Thompson and Ruby Foster; 20 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Margaret Arthington, daughter Elizabeth Ripperdan, two grandchildren Krista and Phillip.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, August 6, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN with Pastor David Mueller officiating. Burial will be 3 pm Tuesday August 7, 2012 in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Rees Funeral Home.
