Edward A. Babich, age 76 of Portage, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at home. He was born on November 28, 1948, in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Thomas and Ann Babich. Ed was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1066 and retired from US Steel where he worked as a Millwright. He was a dedicated member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed going to auctions. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Affectionately known by his family as "Poppy", he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his daughters, Stacy (Ryan) Carmin, Brenda (Monty) Monette; his grandchildren, Joseph Haskins, Jacob Haskins, and Cooper Monette; his girlfriend, Debra Brooks and her mother, Wanda Brettin, her sister, Beth Kochar, and her daughter, Jennifer (Todd) Davidson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Babich; his parents, Thomas and Ann Babich; and his brother, Thomas Babich.

Visitation for Ed will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 10:00 am directly at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage.
