Edward William "Bill" Funkhouser

Edward William Funkhouser "Bill", age 87, of Lake Station passed away Wednesday October 20, 2021with his family at his side.  Bill was born August 8, 1934, in Gary, Indiana to the late Edward M. and Margaret (Smith) Funkhouser.  He was a Teamster working out of Local Union #142 for Jack Gray Transportation. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bill loved gardening and caring for his car.

Bill is survived by his four children, Dennis (Anna) Funkhouser of St. Peters, MO, Dianna Carpenter of Crown Point, Carol (George) Danapas of Valparaiso, and Mary Beth (Willy) Hale of Goshen, KY; eight grandchildren, Kelly (Cesar), Robert, Katie (Tom), Hilary (James), Sarah (Justin), Bill (Rachel), Hannah (Hunter), and Patrick; eight great grandchildren, Kara, Isabela, William, Gabriela, Cesar, Wyatt, Maverick, and Charlie Jean; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Isabel; his parents; his sister, Sheryl Reynolds, and a son-in-law David Carpenter.

Visitation for Bill will be Friday October 22, 2021, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368 concluding with 12:30 pm prayers. We will then process to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated by Rev. Jaime Perea. Burial will follow in McCool Cemetery.
