Edward M. Conrath
Chicago, Illinois

Age 91, a 16 year Portage resident passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Hartsfield Village Nursing Home in Munster, Indiana. He proudly served our country in the United States Army in World War II and retired after 45 years with Illinois Bell Telephone Company. He will be remembered as a loving and cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.

Survived by his wife; Helen (nee Hardy) Conrath, his children; Diane (Chuck Johnson) Conrath, IL, Edward D. Conrath, VA, Patricia (Gary) Miller, IL, James (Teri) Conrath, IL, Joseph (Sara) Wilkens, AZ, Sharon (Paul) Paprocki, IN and Karen (Edward) Matheny, IN. Survived by his brother Richard. Grandchildren, Chris, Jeff , PJ (Candace) Miller, Robbie (Nicole), Tommy, Leah, Genevieve Conrath, Julie (William) Hetzel, Valerie (Brendan) Kelly, Kimberly (Leo) Plotkin, Lori (Daniel) Zamudio, Dawn (John) Madura and Tracy (Donald) Mauer, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his first wife Genevieve (nee Cunningham) Conrath, brothers John and Robert, daughter-in-law Barbara Conrath and grandson Paul Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations to Misericordia Home in Chicago.

A 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 22, 2013 at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN 46368 , with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Edward will be taken to church Friday morning at 9:00 AM for visitation until Mass begins. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 3:00PM -8:00 PM at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, Indiana 46368 with a 4:30 PM prayer service and a 7:00 PM American Legion Post #260.
