Edward G. Harrell

Edward G. Harrell "Edgie", age 80, of Hobart, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018. He was born on May 28, 1938 in Sparta, Illinois to the late Everett and Mary Harrell. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #454 in New Chicago. Edgie retired from the Post Tribune and worked as a Ranger at Duck Creek Golf Course for many years. He was an avid golfer and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He liked playing BINGO and going to buffets to eat crab legs. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his son, Darris (Mary) Harrell; daughters, Cindy (Bob) Tenorio, Melissa (Junior) Majka; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Presslar, Wanda Richardson, Mary Randall, Marjorie Harrell; many loving nieces and nephews; and his special friends Duck Creek Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Everett Harrell; sisters, Clara Gearhart, Carolyn Barton and Paula Monnier; In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edgie's name may be made to the Hobart Food Pantry.

A funeral service for Edgie will take place Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
