Edward Louis Karpinski, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was born March 1, 1932 to the late Louis and Mary Karpinski (Ranus) in New Chicago, Indiana. Edward was a retired United States Steel Electric Shop employee. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and in the Korean War. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Edward is survived by his three children, Michael Karpinski, Marie (Stanley) Bucher and Tina Evans. Grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Karpinski, Valerie (Phil) Hensley, Brian (Dana) Bucher, Brooks Bucher, Brittney Bucher, Anthony Evans, Kylie Evans and Kristy Evans; great grandchildren, Landen, Nolan and Gavin Bucher; brother, Ted Turek and two sisters, Evelyn Meiu and Charlotte (Casey) Bugay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace Karpinski (Rizzo), parents and stepfather, Walter Turek and sisters, Louise Picka and Betty Lazorik. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are preferred.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014, 10:00am at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 6060 Miller Av, Gary, IN with a luncheon following at the church hall.
