EDWARD M. RITTER, age 90 of Hobart, Indiana passed away on May 5, 2011. Edward was born on February 26, 1921 in Rensselaer Indiana to the late Otto and Anna Ritter. Edward married Mary Churchia on August 10, 1946. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a staff Sargent during WWII. He was a retired employee of the city of Hobart with 32 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hobart.

Edward is survived by his loving wife Mary of 64 years, 4 children Edward Ritter of Carpentersville, IL, Michael (Gail) Ritter of Portage, IN, Ruth (Bruce) Wilkinson of Hobart, IN, and Mary (Robert) Schmidt of Joliet, IL; sister Evelyn Dickson of Valparaiso IN. Nine grandchildren; Edward loved his time with his extended family, spending most of his later years at home surrounded by family. Edward was the adored great grandfather of Austin and Jillian. As a veteran he shared stories of his army days with Austin who is an avid history enthusiast. His face would light up at the sight of Jillian as she spent many of her pre school years being cared for by his wife Mary. He truly loved his family, home and the beautiful outdoors.

Memorial contributions are prefered to Trinity Lutheran Church.

A funeral service for Edward will be on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Dr. Hobart with Rev. Gary S. Nagy, officiating. Burial will follow at Hobart cemetery, Hobart.
