Edward "Eddie" George Simon, age 67, of Portage, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on December 19, 1952 to the late Fred and Nancy (nee Fell) Simon.  He was an avid Sox fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. He married the love of his life Christine Wilson on June 28, 1980 in Illinois. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 40 yrs., Christine Simon; two sons, Benjamin Simon and Robert Wilson; two daughters, Cheryl (Bill) Jackomis and Rebecca (Marco) Giovingo; six grandchildren, Katelyn, Tyler, Matthew, Rebecca, Alan and Antonio; five brothers, Dr. Gerald (Donna) Simon, Dr. David (Karen) Simon, Michael Simon, Daniel (Alison) Simon and Bruce (Marguerite) Simon; two sisters, Mary (Mike) Groves and Leslie (Bob) Zimmerman and many other loving family members and friends.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Simon, and nephew, Tommy Zimmerman.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Stepp officiating at Rees Funeral Homes, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368.  Visitation will take place just prior to the service from 2:00 until time of service at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow.  For more information, please call 219-762-3013.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com .
