Obituary

Edward J Spencer, age 88, of Lake Station, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, he was a member the Newton Masonic Lodge 361, Kentland, Indiana, American Legion, Post 100 and a former member of the VFW 909. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather.
Edward is survived by his loving wife Grace (nee Baldwin); son, John (Cherie) Spencer of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 2 daughters; Sheryl (John) Henderson of Ashland, Massachusetts and Susan (Michael) Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 2 step-daughters; Sheila (James) Brown of Liberty Township, Ohio and Shelly (Doug) Boyle of Agoura Hills, California; 13 beautiful grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Deep appreciation to dear friends; Walter and Harriet Friend.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents; Conly and Mabel Spencer, brother, Robert Spencer, 2 sisters; Mary Mashino and Janice Molter.
A memorial service for Edward will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Rees Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station. Visitation will be just prior to the service from 2 – 4 p.m. Memorials are preferred to SLO/RSH Foundation, P.O Box 212 Georgetown, MA 10833.
