EDWARD SERRANO, SR., 63, of Hammond, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Munster Community Hospital. Edward had been a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and was a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was employed at LaSalle Steel in Hammond.
He is survived by his former wife, Linda McLoughlin-Serrano, 2 sons, Edward, Jr. (Diana) Serrano of Hammond, Brandon Edward (Kim) Serrano of Kouts, IN, father, Damaso (Juanita) Serrano of Lake Station, 3 brothers: Jose (Antonia) Serrano of Lake Station, Damaso, Jr. (Audrey) Serrano of Portage, Robert (Deann) Serrano of Lowell, 5 sisters: Carla Serrano of Lake Station, Julie (Tony) DeJesus of Valparaiso, Juanita (Jaime) Del Valle of Hobart, Maria (John) Weiss of Florida and Norma (Mike) Martin of Florida, 5 grandchildren: Katy, Isabella, Paola, Sean and Sid Serrano, daughter-in-law, Celeste Serrano of Kouts, IN and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Edward Serrano, brother, Juan Antonio Serrano and mother, Hilaria Serrano.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Indiana.
