Edward M. Worthington, age 80, of Crown Point and formerly of Chesterton passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Chicagoland Christian Village in Crown Point. Edward was born December 28, 1932 in Cynthiana, Kentucky to the late Thomas and Anna Mae (Fryman) Worthington. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1951. Edward was a Manager at USS Tubing Specialties and the US Steel Gary Works Tin Mill, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and CrossPointe Christian Church. Edward was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Roosevelt Lodge F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He was a life member of the Northwest Indiana Bowling Association and member of its Hall of Fame as well as a member of the Indiana State Bowling Hall of Fame. He also was a charter member of the US Steel Supervisors Club.
He is survived by his loving son, Gerald (Gloria) Worthington of Montgomery, AL; three grandchildren, Tara Lynn (Adam) Sasser, Michelle Renee (John) Hamstra and Jason Edward Worthington; seven great grandchildren, Adeline, John Michael, Nicholas, Greyson, Maxwell, Carson and Harper; three sisters-in-law Cathie (Roger) Billhardt, Janet Larrimore and Shirley Worthington and several Nieces and Nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonney; parents; two brothers, John and Roy Worthington and sister, Alta Mary Worthington.
Memorial visitation will be from 1-2 pm Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home, Windfield Chapel 10909 Randolph St., Windfield/Crown Point, Indiana 46307, with a Masonic Memorial Service at 1:30 pm. Memorial services will follow at 2 pm with Pastor John Hamstra, officiating.
Memorial gifts are preferred to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in lieu of flowers.
