Efrain Jimenez

Age 86 passed away Friday, November 17,2023 at his home. He was born on May 26, 1937, in Puerto Rico to the late Modesto and Julia (nee Benitez) Jimenez. Efrain retired from US Steel, where he worked for over 35 years. On May 26, 1962, he married the love of his life Esperanza Velez in Gary, Indiana. Efrain was a handy man, he enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, and traveling, most of all he loved spending time with his bride, Esperanza.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Esperanza Jimenez; two sons, Alberto Jimenez, and Daniel Jimenez; daughter, Alicia (Howard) Muniz; brother, Hector Jimenez; four sisters, Lydia, Juanita, Carmen (Santo) and Maria; and many other loving family members and friends.

Efrain was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Faustino Jimenez, and Jesus Jose-Juan.

A funeral service for Efrain will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana. Burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery in Portage. A visitation for Efrain will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
