Elizabeth P. Redar (nee Phillips), age 86 of Lake Station passed away Friday, January 21, 2011. She was born on July 7, 1924 in Gary, Indiana. She worked as a correspondent for the Post Tribune and the Times and as an Editor for the Herald Newspaper. She was a longtime member of St Francis Xavier Church. Elizabeth served as the first female President of the Lake Station School Board.
She is survived by 5 children, Martha (Bob) McGuckin of Valparaiso, IN; Robert (Eleanor) Redar of Fort Myers, FL; David (Jill) Redar of Tucson, AZ; Paul Redar of Lake Station, IN; John (Claire) Redar of Murfreesboro, AK; 1 brother, Sam Phillips of San Francisco, CA; 1 sister, Janette Baughman of Albuquerque, NM; 14 grandchildren, Catherine, Robert, Mike, Robert, Jaclyn, Yomara, Michelle, Joseph, Beth, Katie, Paul II, Chris, Tiffany, and Zoe, and 14 great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Naomi Phillips, her husband, Francis Redar, infant son, Joseph Anthony Redar, 2 brothers, Bob and Mike Phillips, and 1 sister, Sally Hunt.

Funeral services are Monday, January 24, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station with Rev. Eduardo Malagon officiating. Cremation will follow.
