Ellen Veotta (Wright) Henson, age 97, of Chesterton, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. She was born on October 1, 1922 in Cloverdale, Alabama to the late Jesse and Emma Wright. Ellen was an excellent seamstress and she loved gardening, flowers and crafting. She dedicated her life to her faith in the Lord and taking care of her beloved family. She will be sorely missed by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Robert (Shirley) Henson; daughters; Wanda (Rev. James) Fielder, Susan (Rick) Toadvine; grandchildren, Melissa (Rev. Jonathan) Hudson, Jerusha (Rev. Jason) McGhee, Brent (Angela) Fielder, Bryan Fielder, Danae (Dr. Ascander) Dost; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jessie Dunlop and Dalphner Harms.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Floyd Henson; grandson, Devin Verret; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Memorial contributions in Ellen's name may be made to the Portage United Pentecostal Church, 2865 Willowdale Road, Portage, IN 46368 and/or South Flint Tabernacle, PO Box 7008, Flint, MI 48507.
Visitation for Ellen will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Portage United Pentecostal Church, 2865 Willowdale Road, Portage, IN 46368.
Additional Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm at South Flint Tabernacle, G-3450 South Saginaw Street, Burton, MI 48529. A funeral service will take place at 5:00 pm at the church with Rev. Robert E. Henson and Rev. James R. Fielder officiating. She will be laid to rest Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 10:00 am directly at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
