Elsie Mae Marvin (nee Erwin), age 79 of Hobart went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 23, 2011. She was born on January 19, 1932 in Hobart Indiana to the late Perry and Mamie Erwin. She was a longtime Hobart resident and was recently residing at the Golden Living Center in Portage. Elsie shared her church membership between the First Baptist Church of Hobart and the Fellowship Baptist Church of Westville. She served as a Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Hobart for many years. She will be remembered by her family as a faithful and loving wife, mother and grandmother.


She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Marvin of Hobart, Indiana; 3 sons, Keith (Manuela) Marvin of Westville, Indiana; Robert (Adrienne) Marvin of Colorado; Brian Marvin of Ocala, Florida; 2 daughters, Karen (Guy) Vallangeon of Chesterton, Indiana; Mary Ann (Lee) Zweigle of Loveland, Colorado; 1 brother, Kenneth (Joanne) Erwin of Las Vegas, Nevada; and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Russell (Helen) Erwin, Opal (Pauline) Erwin, 2 sisters, Celia (Elgia) Parker, and Eldora (Earl) Malone.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hobart or the Fellowship Baptist Church of Westville.

Visitation is Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road. Funeral services are Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hobart, 1 North Pennsylvania Street, Hobart with Rev. Richard Brown and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.
