Elsie E. Otero, age 66 of Portage passed away at her home on Thursday, June 14, 2012. She was born on July 8, 1945 in Florida Puerto Rico to the late Augustus and Ana Gonzalez. She worked as a Bilingual Teacher for Hobart Township Schools and was a member the Jubilee Worship Center. Elsie will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Hector Otero of Portage, IN; 4 children, Pete Otero of Portage, IN; Marlene (Mark) Hein of Crown Point, IN; Jennifer (Jeff) Alwine of Goshen, IN; Richard (Michelle) Otero of Valparaiso, IN; 1 brother, Neftali (Mirna) Gonzalez of FL; 5 sisters, Alicia (Gilbert) Diaz of Puerto Rico; Laura Gonzalez of NY; Carmen Menendez of Puerto Rico; Ana Arellano of Hobart, IN; Elsa Gonzalez of Hammond, IN; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services are Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Jubilee Worship Center, 415 North Hobart Road, Hobart with Rev. Dale P. Combs officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Visitation is Monday, June 18, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jubilee Worship Center.
