Elsie M. Riggers, age 99, of Lake Station, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017. She was born in Bennet, Iowa on February 6, 1918 to the late Thomas and Meta (nee Treimer) Pohlmann. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hobart. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and grandmother.

Elsie is survived by her children, Rolan (Merle) Riggers, Ruth Wallace, Elsie Mae (David) Higgins, Sherman (Janet) Riggers, Dennis (Joy) Riggers, Rita (Perry) Lalonde, Elaine (Glen Stypula) Castelli, Sharon Riggers; sister, June (Grant) Olson; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick Riggers; daughter, Marabell (Joe) Majka; grandson, Thomas A. Riggers; brothers, Willie, Leonard, and Harvey Pohlmann; and sisters, Leona Harmon, Nora Allison, Hilda Meharry, May Sharp.

A funeral service for Elsie will take place Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342 with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart. Friends may gather with the family on Thursday from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
