Encarnacion "Joe" C. Valle

Encarnacion ”Joe” C. Valle, age 87, of Portage passed away in his home Wednesday July 22, 2026. Joe was born May 23, 1939, in Aguada, Puerto Rico, to the late Tomas and Modesta (Chaparro) Valle. He retired from US Steel #1 Bop Shop and #1 Castor in 2001 with over thirty years of service. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He also was a member of the United Steelworkers Local Union #1014.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Anna (Vazquez) Valle of Portage; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Felix Valle; and a sister, Justina Valle.

Visitation for Encarnacion “Joe” will be Sunday July 26, 2026, from 3-8 pm at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368 with a 6:00 pm Rosary shared by the Rosary Sodality. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin with 10:15 am Monday with Prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel and process to St Francis Xavier Catholic Church 2447 Putnam Street Lake Station, Indiana 46405, where Rev. Jaime Parea will celebrate a Mass at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery.

Memorial gifts are preferred to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.
