Estene Ferguson, age 80, of Hobart, passed away at home on Friday, September 1, 2017. She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on May 17, 1937 to the late John and Nancy (nee Skaggs) Hamilton. Estene worked for Inland Steel as a telephone operator. She was a long time member of the Lakewood Baptist Church in Merrillville. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Estene is survived by her son, Larry (Tammy) Ferguson; grandchildren, Christopher (Elisa Brown) Ferguson, Courtney (Nick) Kilrain, Brittany Ferguson; great grandson, Mason Ferguson; sisters, Janieve (Kerlin) Lyons, Arlene Farley; special friend, Sally Mackulack; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Ferguson; son, Mark Ferguson; and brothers, Fred Ferguson, Ivan William Ferguson.
A funeral service for Estene will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Rev. Charles Ison officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 pm also at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
