Esther Marie Plevo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Esther Marie Plevo, age 64, of Portage, Indiana on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Esther was born on May 12, 1961, to the late Incarnation and Esther Vega Perez in East Chicago, Indiana. She married the love of her life John "Jack" Plevo on March 23, 1992. They spent 33 loving years together. Esther was the proud owner of Edward Anthony's Spa, a business lovingly named in honor of her son who preceded her in death. Esther was a very strong woman with a heart of gold, unwavering compassion and sense of humor. She was known for being feisty, opinionated, sassy and fiercely loyal to those she loved. She was a proud Mexican woman whose family meant everything to her, and she would do anything for others without hesitation. In her free time, Esther loved playing bingo and doing crafts, activities that reflected her creativity and love. Esther's strength, generosity and bold spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.

Esther is survived by her husband John "Jack" Plevo; two daughters, Elizabeth (Jeff) Cunningham and Jaye "Jackie" (Hannah Fredenburg) Plevo; two grandchildren, Joshua and Elliana Cunningham; sister, Linda (Joe) Gonzales; two brothers, Danny (Cookie) Perez and Raymond Perez; her fly girls, Filomena Vega, Cecilia and Monica Obregon and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Anthony Perez, her parents, and brother, Gilbert Perez.

A celebration of Esther's life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 5:00-11:00 PM at American Legion Post 260, 5675 Mulberry Road, Portage, Indiana 46368. Rees Funeral Home and Cremation services, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN. has been entrusted with cremation.
