EVA MARY DELMAGE UDICK, Portage, IN passed away Feb 10, 2018. She was born on November 29, 1921 to William Edward Delmage and Mary Matilda Lamb Delmage. Eva worked for over 35 years at the Toll Road/Howard Johnson's Restaurant. She was active as a Board Member of the Portage Historical Society and for many years, appeared as Mrs. Claus and has contributed items that are on display. She kept scrapbooks for most of her life and loved to talk about the history of the area. Eva was a member of Garyton Covenant Church. Eva was an avid bowler until almost 70 and bowled a 300 game in her 60's. She had a kind heart to all animals and was especially fond of her many "Moushka" cats. Eva is most often remembered for her joy and her love for her family far and wide. She knew each and every one of her extended family and loved them all. Her home was always open for a visit and a visit soon turned into a party. She loved to dance, play cards, have visitors and laugh. Even in her last days, she offered wise words to all who came to visit.

Eva was preceded in death by her beloved children, Florence "Bunnie" Brodie and Gerald William Cornett and her siblings Elsie, Muriel, Clifford, Jack, and Mervyn. Surviving are grandchildren: Elizabeth Brodie, Kathryn (Gregory) Gaffney, David (Jenny) Brodie, Brian Brodie, Kelly (Andrew) King, Robert Cornett, David Cornett, Gerald William "JJ" Cornett, Jr., Victoria (David) Nay; son-in-law, Lloyd Brodie; daughter-in-law, Judy Cornett; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren. Eva has many loving family members who assisted her in recent years: Connie and Tom Dolak, Rhonda and Jim Nelson, Kimberly Mrak, Jim and Cheryl Oswald. Memorial contributions in Eva's name may be made to American Cancer Society or Portage Historical Society. A funeral service for Eva will take place Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel , 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. Visitation for Eva will be held Friday, February 16 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest during a private service at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
