Evelyn F. Boomsma, age 63, of Knox and formerly of Portage passed away Friday May 23, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Evelyn was born June 21, 1950 in Harvey, IL to the late Jacob and Betty (Willie) Jager. Evelyn was a waitress that retired from the Bremen House Restaurant in Tinley Park, IL. She raised four children and a husband. She was volunteer for the Salvation Army in South Haven and was a Sunday School teacher.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband Robert Boomsma, Sr. of Knox; one daughter Sherry Jones of Knox; three sons Robert (Heather) Boomsma, Jr. of Portage, Jason (Amie) Boomsma of Chesterton and Thomas (Rhonda) Boomsma of Portage; fourteen grandchildren Travis, Ashley, Sarah, Robert, Jacob, Joseph, Haileigh, Tiffany, Kayla, David, Marissa, Cameron, Ella and Mason; 8 great grandchildren; many extended relatives and her beloved canine companion Coco.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Michael Jones.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Friday May 30, 2014 at the South Haven Salvation Army Church at 799 Capitol Road Valparaiso, IN 46385 with majors Jonathan and Kim Welch officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday at the South Haven Salvation Army Church.
Memorial gifts are preferred to Evelyn's family in lieu of flowers.
