Evelyn Ava Harmon (nee Cassady) (Kubiak). Born June 11, 1925, in Danville, IL. Age 98 passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Crown Point Christian Village. Evelyn was a very active and adventurous soul, having hiked the Grand Canyon (twice) and the Appalachian Trail, cruised to Alaska and The Panama Canal and traveled to Hawaii, Ireland, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. As a life member of The Moose, Hobart Elks, and Bonner Senior Center. She and her husband Will enjoyed dancing 3-4 times a week. Evelyn was a member of The Deep River Christian Church and an avid seamstress, who made many of her and Will's matching outfits. She was a retired respiratory therapist, having worked at St. Mary's, in Hobart and Michigan City.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Benny Kubiak, Sr.; her son, Steven R. Kubiak; her second husband, Willard L. Harmon; stepson, Willie Harmon, Jr.; sisters, Irma Cassady, Madalynn Philpott; brother, Glen Cassady.
She is survived by her sons, Benny Kubiak, Jr. of Hebron, Terry (Mary) Kubiak of St. Charles, MO; step daughter, Peggy (Tom) Dern of Huntington Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Catherine Cassady of Lafayette, IN; eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors and "adopted daughters"; Flavia Cheng and Diana Poffinbarger, all of who will dearly miss her!
