Evelyn Levack,
Age 100, of Portage passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She was born on January 6,1922 to the late Joseph Reese and Irene (nee Parker) Wampler in Richard City, Tennessee. Evelyn married the love of her life John K. Levack on February 22, 1944, in Gary, Indiana and they spent 70 years together, until his passing in May of 2014. Evelyn was a meticulous homemaker, she took pride in caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Portage. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband John they traveled to the Holy lands, Europe twice, Australia, New Zealand and they went on 40 cruises. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her son, John "Rick" Richard (Linda) Levack of Valparaiso; daughter, Janet Beth (Richard) Oldham of Valparaiso; four grandchildren, Rebecca Levack, Melinda (Mark) Gilles, Tammy (Shon) Ahrendt and Alicia Tucker; five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, Ben, Kaden and Evan and many other loving family members and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Levack; grandson, JC Baldwin; her father, Joseph Rees Wampler; her mother, Irene DeWitt; brothers, Charles Opie Wampler, and Joseph Reese Wampler Jr.; sisters, Lilly Irene Kemper, and Martha Myers. A funeral service for Evelyn will be Monday, December 5,2022 at 11:00 am at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5360 Clem Road, Portage with Pastor Mark Hostetler officiating. Burial at Heritage Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, In 46368.
