Evelyn M. Roberts-Ellis, age 95, of Portage, IN and formerly of Foster City, MI, passed away on August 23, 2022.

Evelyn was born on December 28, 1926 in Kenosha, WI to the late Arthur and Anna (nee Diles) Thoune.  She spent much of her life caring for others, whether it was caring for children, housecleaning, and continuing that hard work at home. Evelyn married William Hartley Roberts in December 18, 1945.  After William's passing in 1987, Evelyn then married Eugene Ellis on September 22, 1989.  Evelyn was a member of the American Legion 454 Auxillary.

Evelyn was a devout Roman Catholic and attended various parishes in the Hobart/Portage area.  She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Evelyn often volunteered in the church kitchen, preparing food for funeral or wedding luncheons and plenty of fish fries.  She also attended St. Bridget's Catholic Church while living in Hobart, IN.  Evelyn began to visit St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and worked BINGO nights. She was also a member of the Ladies Sodality with St. Francis Xavier.  When she moved to Portage, Evelyn attended Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church.  Evelyn was a Eucharistic Minister, distributing Communion to several congregations over the years.

Evelyn was a very hard worker and took her time to make sure each task was done carefully and well.  She was an excellent caregiver and was very involved as a mother and grandmother.  She always supported her sons through various sporting programs, providing treats for numerous bake sales.  In her quiet moments, Evelyn enjoyed some flower gardening and was even a bowler.  She loved hummingbirds and felt a special connection to the one that visited her window daily.  Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her care.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her Husbands: William Hartley Roberts and Eugene Ellis; son: Frederick Roberts; granddaughter: Kristen Roberts; parents: Arthur and Anna; and 8 siblings.

Evelyn is survived by her son: William (Jennifer) Roberts; grandsons: Matthew Roberts, Gregory (Meredith) Roberts, and Zachary Roberts; great-grandchildren: Layla and Kenzie Roberts and Zander and Zara Roberts; sisters: Alice Lahullier and Lucille Cooper; many nieces and nephews; and several wonderful step-children.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5341 Central Ave, Portage) on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 10:00-12:00.  Prayers will immediately follow at 12:00 and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 P.M from Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church (2949 Willowcreek Rd, Portage).  At rest: Calvary Cemetery.
