Evie V. Reid, age 91 of Portage passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. She was born on July 16, 1922 in Hillsboro, Alabama to the late Fred S. and Wilma Patterson. She was formerly of Glen Park and Valparaiso. Evie was a Homemaker and a longtime member of Jubilee Worship Center. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, quilting, and gardening. She was a member of the Riley PTA and also volunteered with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

She is survived by 5 children, Carl (Pat) Reid of Valparaiso, IN; Jerry (Patricia) Reid of AZ; Ray (Carol) Reid of Tampa, FL; Vicki (late Bob) Massey of Portage, IN; Mark (Trish) Reid of Hebron, IN; 1 sister, Mavis Reno of Valparaiso, IN; daughter-in-law, Girt Reid, 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Reid, 1 son, David Reid, and 5 siblings, Myrtle Wirick, Ellis Patterson, Winifred "Boe" Patterson, Margie "Maxine" King, Martha Mae Meeks.

Funeral services are Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Jubilee Worship Center, 415 N. Hobart Road, Hobart, IN 46342 with Rev. Dale P. Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation is Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
