Felix G Bannon, age 82, of Hobart, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 24, 2014. He was born on February 10, 1932 in Hammond, Indiana, to the late William and Gracie Bannon. Felix retired from Ragnar Benson in Park Ridge, Illinois, after 35 years as a construction superintendent. He will always be remembered as a master of every conceivable craft and a model of dependability for anyone who needed anything at any time. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with all of his family, fishing, cooking, pontoon parties and his red Solo cup.
Felix is survived by his wife, Julie Bannon; his sons, Tim Bannon, Crown Point; Bradley (Diane) Bannon, Cedar Lake; David (Mimi) Bannon, Rockford, Illinois; and, his daughter, Terry (Glenn) Dotson, St. John. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his step-children, Tim (Lori) Larson and Julie Ann Prentice, both of Portage, and three step-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gracie Bannon, his first wife, Mary Bannon, and his brother, Charles Bannon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Felix's name may be made to VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, Indiana, 46383.
A memorial service for Felix will take place Friday, December 5, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Visitation for Felix will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
