Flemenia "Mena" Wilson

Flemenia "Mena" Wilson, 88, of Lake Station, Indiana passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023.  She was born June 10, 1935, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the late Dominick and Rose (Panici) Rossi.

Mena is a first-generation United States citizen, her parents immigrated here from Italy and raised a large family with twelve children. Mena was married to George Wilson in 1958 and they raised 4 boys.  They were together for 37 years until his passing in 1995.  For many years Mena worked as a server for Gigi's, White Hen and Lake Park Residential; she was also an avid baker.  During her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and spending time making new friends at the Maria Reiner Center in Hobart.  For many years, she was also an election poll volunteer, taking ballots from the precincts to the county courthouse for counting. More than anything, Mena loved her family and will be missed greatly.

Mena is survived by her sons, Terry Wilson and Tony Wilson, and grandchildren, Timothy Wilson, and Christina Wilson.

In addition to her parents and husband, George Wilson, Mena was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy Lee Wilson, and Donald J. Tindall.

Family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 4:00pm Friday, December 8 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mena's name may be made to the Maria Reiner Center, 705 East 4th Street, Hobart, Indiana 46342.
