Floyd E. Gilbert, age 76, of Valparaiso passed away Thursday April 9, 2015. He was born on January 11, 1939 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Elvis and Janie E (nee Pryton) Gilbert. Floyd was a longtime Valparaiso resident and a member of Jubilee Worship Church of God. He was a 2001 retired Overhead Crane Operator for Bethlehem Steel. Floyd enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing and woodworking. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by wife, Bettie L. (nee Winfrey) Floyd, two sons; Floyd E. Gilbert Jr. of Michigan City and Daryl C. Gilbert of Portage, two daughters; Lisa (James) Johnson of Chesterton and Kristy J. (Norman) Gill of Cedar Lake, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Billy (Rebecca) Gilbert of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Gary (Pat) Gilbert of Jonesboro, Arkansas, three sisters; Betty Lovely of Mount Moris, Michigan, Jane Austin of Lake Station and Pat Grissom of Lake Station.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Floyd will be Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Jubilee Worship Center, 415 N. Hobart Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
