Forest Wayne Terry,

age 43, of Portage, Indiana passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 8, 1982, in Valparaiso, Indiana to Matthew and Linda (Guimont) Terry. Forest was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Forest loved taking road trips to satisfy his fascination with lighthouses. He was blessed to have visited lighthouses in Northern Michigan and North Carolina. He always had an awesome music playlist to accompany these trips and make them even more memorable. Forest's constant quest to create and use his ingenuity aided in making daily life easier, not only for himself, but those close to him. He loved many of the Indiana and Chicagoland sports teams, especially Notre Dame and the Colts. Forest loved to draw and create sports logos. He also had a great interest in creating with computer graphics and created entire cities within Minecraft. He enjoyed spending time with his friends as an avid gamer.
Forest's whit, smile and humor will be missed by all who loved him and will feel the void his absence will leave. In Forest's words, this is not goodbye, it is "See You Later." Forest is survived by his parents Matthew and Linda, sister Caitlin, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, his special caregiver, Lidia Garcia, and his beloved dog, Indy. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and namesake, Forest Guimont and Gramma, Mary Leleika, and paternal grandparents, Doug and Margaret Terry.
Memorial visitation will be held on January 22, 2026, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN, with a memorial service to follow immediately at 4:00 PM. An additional Celebration of Forest's Life will be scheduled at a future date.
