Frances H. Chagoya, age 99, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was born on December 14, 1914 in Dallas, Texas to the late Francisco and Eulalia Huerta. On June 14, 1936, she married the love of her life, Manuel Chagoya in Crown Point, Indiana. Frances will always be affectionately remembered as the Taco Queen of the Nativity Festival. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, but above all she cherished the time she spent with her family.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Dolores Armenth of Hobart; son, Manuel Chagoya Jr. of California; daughter in law, Gayle Sweitzer; sister, Jennie Torres of Portage; sister in law, Patricia Huerta of Gary; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Eulalia Huerta; her beloved husband, Manuel Chagoya; great granddaughter, Gabrielle Collins; 2 brothers, Victoro and John Huerta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at Nativity of our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage with Rev. Andrew J. Corona and Rev. Frank Torres officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage.
