Frances Marie Elias-Holcomb

Age 85 of portage, formerly of Hobart, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 1, 1935 in Wise County, Virginia to the late Walter L. and Margaret (nee Mullins) Dorton. She worked for L.S. Ayres for many years and her whole life was dedicated to taking care of others and making sure her family was well taken care of. Frances loved her hi-heeled shoes and jewelry; she was one classy lady. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend.  She will be dearly missed.  She is survived by four daughters, Wanda (Lindsay) Elias, Sherry McWilliams, Tana (Fred) McWilliams and Josie (Greg) Chandler; four sons, Wayne (Pam) Barker, Mike (Lori) Barker, Rich (Jenn) Barker and Jack Barker; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband, John H. Barker, second husband, Edward L. Elias, son, Johnny Alvin Barker her parents; two brothers, Jack and Colbert Dorton, sister, Anita Blair and son-in-law, Jack D. McWilliams.   In lieu of flowers donations in Frances' memory can be made to VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette Street Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. Funeral Services are Monday, April 26, 2021 at 1 p.m.  at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating.
