Frances "Fran" J. Reese, age 88, of Portage passed away Tuesday April 25, 2017 at the Chesterton Manor Nursing Center. Frances was born April 11, 1929 in Gary, Indiana to the late George A. and Hazel (Smith) Hodge. Frances retired from the US Postal Service as a Postal Clerk. She was a former church organist that supported many missions around the world. She was also an avid collector.

Frances is survived by her three grandchildren, Tasha Reese of lake Station, David (T.J.) Kearby of Indianapolis and Bryan Kearby of Portage; her great granddaughter,Caliee Sawochka of Portage; her daughter-in-law, Ann Kearby; and her special friend Wayman Howard of Gary.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Edward Reese; parents; children Marsha Martin, Bill Martin and Edward Reese, Jr.; her brother William Hodge and her grandmother, Grandma Ethel.

A memorial service for Frances will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bob Burton Officiating.
