FRANCIS W. RICHEL, age 92, of Portage, and formerly of Michigan, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013. He was born on October 4, 1920 in Gladstone, MI to Frank and Lillian Richel (nee Quinn). Francis served in the US Army during WWII. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and repairing things in his spare time. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his 4 children, Dennis (Mary) Richel of Portage, Steven Richel of Chicago, Linda (Edward) Porembski of Scottsdale, AZ, and Timothy Richel of Lombard, IL; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; other dear family and friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Richel.
Funeral services for Francis will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 beginning with prayers at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage then going in procession to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447 Putnam St., Lake Station for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place Monday, September 23, 2013 at 12 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 27034 S. Diagonal Rd., Elwood, IL.
