Francisca (Cica) Tellez, age 88, of Portage, IN, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020.  She was born in Pharr, Texas on January 29, 1932 to the late Domingo and Vitalia (nee Ortiz) Garcia.  She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Latin Pentecostal Church of God in Lake Station.  She will be remembered as a simple woman who enjoyed crafts, sewing, cooking, cleaning, and gardening.  Francisca had a kindhearted and compassionate spirit and devoted much of her life as a caregiver and helping those in need.  But most of all, she was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Cristobal Tellez; daughters, Vitalia (Michael) Hunke, Yolanda Garcia, Rosalinda (Vince Lemus) Sherwood; son, Ricardo (Christine) Tellez; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Kristy, Elizabeth, Richard, RC, Cynthia, Nicholas, Julian, Larry and Cieara; 7 great grandchildren, Cristyna, Karolina, Allison, Lilianna, Giovanni, Evan and Libby; special cousin, Tomas Garcia; and many other loving family members and friends.

Francisca was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesus (Carmen) Garcia, Antonio (Lupe) Garcia; sons-in-law; Larry Sherwood and Rick Garcia; and her parents.

A visitation will take place Friday, December 4, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368. Please note that due to Porter County Covid-19 restrictions the visitation will be limited to 25 people at one time.  Masks will be required, and hand sanitizer will be available.  We ask that everyone help us to keep everyone safe by practicing social distancing.

Francisca will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.

In addition, please join us for Drive-By Processional to be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 @ 1:00 PM. Please meet at Valparaiso High School, (2727 N. Campbell St. Valparaiso, IN 46385) at 12:45 pm to line up. Processional will leave promptly at 1:00 PM.
