Frank Joseph O'Reilly

Frank Joseph O'Reilly, age 65 of Portage passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 19, 1956 in Gary, Indiana to the late Charles and Wilma O'Reilly. Frank retired from Local #150 where he worked for over 30 years as an Operating Engineer. He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. As a Portage Councilman, he was very active in attending board meetings as he genuinely cared about the community he lived in. He coached pop warner football. He had a great sense of humor and loved to travel. Frank always kept busy and had a mind for solving problems. He enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan and days on Wells Street Beach where he grew up.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; his sister, Kathy (Chuck) Olds; brothers, John (Sylvia) O'Reilly, Lenny (Stanley) O'Reilly, Kevin (Debbie) O'Reilly; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma and his father, Chuck. Memorial contributions in Frank's name may be made to VNA Hospice Foundation, 501 Marquette St. Valparaiso, IN 46383.

Visitation for Frank will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 10:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage. For more information please call (219) 762-3013.
