Fred R. Schoon

Fred R. Schoon, age 88 of Portage passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born on April 2, 1934 to the late  Walter and Minnie (nee Efabi) Schoon . Fred loved the Lord and faithfully lived by his word. He loved people and enjoyed working for Citizen's bank in management and served on the board of directors in Mooresville, Indiana. After retirement, he returned to Citizens Bank and worked as an appraiser. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, kind, compassionate, sweet, hardworking, and dedicated servant of God.
He is survived by his three sons, Charles "Chuck" (Kim) Schoon, Duane (Daneshu) Schoon and Thomas (Patty) Schoon; four grandchildren, Kelly Schoon, Matt and Alysa Brooke and Savanna Schoon; two brothers, Warren Schoon and Wally (Donna) Schoon.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia "Jane" (nee Crantrall) Schoon, his parents and daughter in-law, Donna Schoon. Per Fred's request there will be no services held. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana (219)-762-3013.
