Freddie C. Crawford

Freddie C. Crawford, age 88, a lifetime Hobart resident passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023.  He was born on November 18, 1934, in Gary, Indiana to the late Fred and Helen Crawford.  Freddie was a member of the Hobart High School class of 1953, and he served his country in the U.S. Army.  Freddie had worked as a Union Plumber Local 210 before his retirement.  He especially enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing, traveling, going to the casinos, and throwing parties.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth Crawford (nee Pinkerton) of Hobart, IN; five children, Nancy Mitchell of MN; Chuck (Karen) Crawford of Hobart, IN; Sandy (Tom) Dagenais of Hobart, IN; Carol Kelly of FL; Fred Crawford Jr. of Hobart, IN; two stepchildren, Christopher (Sherri) Edwards of Hobart, IN; Kathryn Edwards of Hobart, IN; two sisters, Linda Achor of Hobart, IN; Sue Boldin of Hobart, IN; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Hobart Humane Society P.O. Box 108 Hobart, Indiana 46342 in memory of Fred would be appreciated.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Susan Crawford; one grandchild and one great-great grandchild; siblings, Jane Soderquist, Harold Crawford, and Roberta Thomasino and the mother of his children, Judy Crawford.

A memorial service for Fred will be held Monday, June 12,2023 at 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342, with Pastor Charlie Strietelmeier officiating.
