Freddie Fazekas, age 78, a lifelong resident of Lake Station, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Freddie was born on June 26, 1942 in Gary, IN to the late William and Mary (nee Chasko) Fazekas. He worked for the Lake Station Community School Corporation as a jack-of-all-trades, assisting in bus maintenance and repairs as needed. Freddie married the love of his life, Adeline (nee Long) Fazekas on April 27, 1967 and they spent 54 wonderful years together. He was a devout member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Clement Council #3283, and a former member of the Lake Station Lions Club. Freddie was active for 26 years in the Lake Station Civil Defense and served as a Lake Station Court Bailiff. He enjoyed working on old classic cars and was a NASCAR, Cubs, and Bears fan.
Freddie is survived by his wife: Adeline; sons: Bill (Margie) Fazekas, of Chesterton, IN, Chuck (Diane) Fazekas of Lake Station, IN, and John (Tina) Fazekas of New Chicago, IN; sister: Sandy (Earl) Woodard; grandchildren: Dillon (Charissa) Ellis, Mary (Zack) MacKenzie, John Fazekas, Jr., Robert (Sydney Macon) Fazekas, and Ryan Fazekas; great-grandchildren: Hadley, Harper, Chloe, Bella, Aubrey, and Draven; sisters-in-law: Doris Fazekas and Joyce Fazekas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: William (Rochelle) Fazekas, Robert (Wanda) Fazekas, Louie Fazekas, and Richard Fazekas.
Family and friends may gather for a visitation at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W. Ridge Road, Hobart) on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 2:00-3:45 P.M. A Time of Sharing will begin at 3:45 P.M. with cremation to follow.
