Freddie Leon Rich Sr., age 77, of Hobart, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was born on September 4, 1937 in Robinson, Illinois to the late Franklin and Ollie Rich. Freddie was very active in the Hobart community. He dedicated a lot of time to coach and umpire Hobart Girls Softball, Little League and Soccer. He was an honorary lifetime board member of Hobart Girls Softball. He was a member of the Hobart Moose Lodge #783 and the Northwest Indiana Archers League. Freddie was an avid deer hunter and will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to those who knew him. He retired after almost forty years of working for NIPSCO as a supervisor.

Freddie is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Rich; sons, Freddie (Sue) Rich Jr., Michael (Elizabeth) Rich, Larry (Karen) Rich; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Barton Rich, in 1995. Memorial contributions in Freddie's name may be made to Moose Lodge Charities, 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539, or Hobart Girls Softball, PO Box 625, Hobart, IN 46342.

A funeral service for Freddie will take place Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Richard Brown officiating. He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Moose Lodge service at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
