Fredrick Michael Blachly, age 70 of Portage passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. He was born on September 17, 1944 in Muroc, California to the late Howard and Mary Blachly. He worked at U.S. Steel as a Sheet and Tin Roller. Michael served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps..

He is survived by his devoted friend, Grace Blachly of Portage, IN; four sons, Michael James Blachly of Portage, IN; Ernest (Sherry) Essany of Roselle, IL; Jason Essany of Carol Stream, IL; Tim (Delia) Dunn of Indianapolis, IN; four daughters, Tina (Eric) Hansen of Valparaiso, IN; Virginia (Bill) Aries of TN; Susan Adams of Hobart, IN; Lynn-Ann (Alex) Baliga of Portage, IN; two sisters, Delores Daniels of Perry, GA; Anna Kuder of Perry, GA; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Francis Dunn, and two sisters, Anita Smith and Betty Fox.

Funeral services are Monday, May 11, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Ernie Essany officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.
