Frieda M. Craig, age 84 of Hobart passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014. She was born on May 17, 1930 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late James and Harriet Bell. Frieda graduated from Wheeler High School. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of New Chicago. Frieda was a resident of Brentwood Assisted Living and was very active in the Brentwood Society, running devotions, and playing Bingo. Her greatest joy was serving her Lord Jesus. She is now running activities on streets of gold!
She is survived by 1 son, Allen (Nyla) Craig of New London, IA; 1 brother, Robert (Carolyn) Bell of Boise, ID; friend and caregiver, Martin (Joanna) Healy Jr. of Hobart, IN; 2 grandchildren, Patti Healy of Vandalia, IL; Joy (Greg) Kirchoff of Crystal Lake, IL; 4 great-grandchildren, Cole and Connor Kirchoff, and Dustin and Devin Stutler, and lifelong friend, Doris Wright of Lake Station, IN, and many nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Craig, daughter, Mary Lou Healy and granddaughter, Kami Craig.
There will be a celebration of life service on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Bill Barrow officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Marshall Cemetery in Marshall, Illinois. Visitation is Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
