Gale Ann Westmoreland

Gale Ann Westmoreland, age 78, of Hobart, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Gale Ann was born on June 16, 1943 in Gary, IN to the late Edgar Leonard and Annamae Krohn.  Her beloved sister, Nancy, also preceded her in death.

She met the love of her life, Daniel Glen Westmoreland, at the Frost-Top in New Chicago, IN and married him on October 25, 1960.  Gale and Danny (General) were together, inseparable, until Danny's death on December 8, 2013.

Gale worked as a nurse for many years and upon retirement, Danny and Gale went on many "Adventures" including going to garage sales, resale shops, flea markets, and the like.  They would pack a little cooler and hit the road.  When not adventuring with Danny, Gale loved to plant and care for her flowers.  She also enjoyed cutting the grass on their 5-acre homestead and sewing.  Many days, you would find Gale and Danny either in the sewing room together with him on the computer and Gale on the sewing machine or each of them on their respective mowers taking care of the yard.  Some of Gale's happiest times were with Danny.

Gale will be remembered as a "classy lady" with a beautiful smile, a wonderful laugh, and a heart full of love for her family and friends.  Gale weathered a lot in her lifetime, but she grew stronger and set an example for her daughters on how to endure and hold fast.  Gale is resting now and at peace with Danny.

Gale is survived (and will be greatly missed) by her four daughters; Dana Marie (Johnny) Hand of Valparaiso, IN; Joy Lynn (David) Birch of Rensselaer, IN, Christie Ann (Dave) Sluder of Lake Station, IN, and Shannon Gale (John) Avila of Michigan City, IN; her 17 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; and brother: James (Connie) Krohn.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W. Old Ridge Rd, Hobart) on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.  A funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 P.M. with Bishop David L. Mueller officiating.  Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
