Gary D. Ivers, age 70, of Hobart passed away Sunday January 15, 2017 at Porter Regional in Valparaiso. Gary was born May 17, 1946 in Gary, Indiana to the late Walter and Nina Wreath (nee Friend) Ivers. He was a retired Local 597 pipefitter. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Gary is survived by his four children, Karen (John ) Kendera of Hobart, Kathi (Joe) Mitol of Hobart and Kirk (Tracy) Ivers of Portage; and Bill Santmyre, who he considered a son; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley, Hannah, Andrew, Heather, Kyle and Kailey; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Makenzie; two brothers, Dellis and Willis Ivers;and many other loving family members and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Hershel.
