Gary G. Johnson

Gary G. Johnson, age 67 of Portage passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 1, 2025. He was born on July 21, 1957, in Harlan, Kentucky to Hugh and Katherine Johnson. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 8, 2008, he married Anna York in Valparaiso. He was currently employed as a truckdriver for PC Logistics. He was an excellent mechanic and loved driving a truck. Gary loved sports and described himself as a diehard Cubs fan. He also enjoyed helping other people. Gary was happy to give anyone the shirt off his back, unless of course the Cubs were playing.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Johnson; daughter, Brenda (Jake) Holder; step-daughters, Amber (Davy) Haron, Megan (Cody) Davis, Paige (Tony) Beard; grandchildren, Lyra Holder, Parker, Harlie, and Aria Haron; Jake Davis, Kelley Davis, and Lexie Snow; his parents, Hugh and Katherine Johnson; siblings, Glenda Johnson, Theresa Johnson, Timothy (Susan) Johnson, Lois (Joe) Ramirez, and Bruce (Michele) Clark; his dog, Nala; cat, No Neck Nick; and many loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Shadow.

A memorial service for Gary will take place Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 5:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
