Gayle Michaels, age 78 of Portage, Indiana passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.  She was born on August 10, 1944, in Gary, Indiana to the late Mitchell and Eleanor Pocialik.  Gayle was a former longtime Lake Station resident and had worked as a Teller for Chase Bank.  She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and also the St. Francis Ladies Rosary Sodality.  Gayle loved her two puppies, Piper and Suzy and loved traveling with her sisters.

She is survived by one son, Craig (Charlotte) Michaels of Valparaiso, IN; one daughter, Trish Michaels of Portage, IN; one sister, Jackie (George) Cherry of Portage, IN; three grandchildren, Kay, Spencer, and Dustin.

She was preceded in death by one son, Rick Michaels, and her sister, Susan Malocha.

There will be a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station with Rev. Jaime Perea officiating.  There will be a procession to Calvary Cemetery for burial of cremains immediately following the Mass.  Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel completed arrangements.  (219) 762-3013.
